What is brow lamination?
Brow lamination is a treatment that lifts and sets your natural brow hairs in place, creating a fuller, smoother, and more defined look. It’s perfect for taming unruly brows or enhancing sparse areas for a fluffy, feathery effect that lasts for weeks.
What is eyebrow tinting?
Eyebrow tinting involves applying a semi-permanent dye to your brow hairs to enhance their color and make them appear fuller. It’s perfect for darkening lighter brows or adding depth for a more defined look.
What is eyebrow staining?
Eyebrow staining colors both the hair and the skin underneath your brows creating a more defined and fuller look.
How long do brow lamination and tinting results last?
Brow lamination typically lasts 4-8 weeks, depending on how well your brows are taken care of. Tinting results can last between 2-4 weeks, again depending on your aftercare and hair growth cycle.
Does a lamination hurt?
Brow lamination is generally painless, and there should be no discomfort during the treatment.
Can I get my eyebrows done if I’m pregnant?
Yes, eyebrow shaping, tinting, and lamination are generally safe during pregnancy. However, due to hormonal changes it can sometimes affect the results of brow lamination and you may not see consistent results.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a professional exfoliation treatment that uses a solution to remove the top layers of the skin, revealing smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin underneath. Peels can help with concerns like acne, fine lines, dark spots, and dullness.
What skin concerns can chemical peels help with?
Does a chemical peel hurt?
You may feel a tingling, warm, or slightly stinging sensation during the treatment, but it’s generally very tolerable. I’ll always make sure you’re comfortable throughout your service.
What should I expect after the treatment?
After your chemical peel, it’s common to experience mild redness, tightness, warmth, and mild itching. Peeling may or may not happen—both are totally normal! If you do peel, it typically starts around day 3 or 4. You might also notice some purging, which is a temporary breakout as your skin clears out impurities. In some cases, hyperpigmentation may temporarily darken before it begins to fade. These are all normal parts of the healing process. I’ll send you home with personalized aftercare instructions to help your skin stay comfortable and ensure you get the best possible results.
Is a chemical peel safe for pregnant or breastfeeding clients?
No, chemical peels are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Even mild peels can contain active ingredients that aren’t considered safe for these clients. At Sweet Pea Esthetics, your safety comes first—once you’re no longer pregnant or nursing, we can explore peel options that best suit your skin. In the meantime, there are other gentle treatments available to support your glow safely.
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the surface of the skin. It leaves your skin smoother, brighter, and more radiant with no downtime.
What skin types will dermaplaning help?
Dermaplaning is safe for most skin types, especially those looking to improve texture, dullness, or product absorption. It may not be recommended for those with active acne or certain skin conditions—I'll assess your skin during your visit to make sure it’s right for you.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
Not at all! Dermaplaning is completely painless. Most clients find it relaxing and enjoy the immediate softness it leaves behind.
Does my hair grow back darker?
No, that’s a common myth. Dermaplaning does not change the color or thickness of the hair. The soft vellus hair (peach fuzz) will grow back just as it was before—typically fine and light.
Is dermaplaning safe for pregnancy or breastfeeding clients?
Yes! Dermaplaning is a great exfoliation option for pregnant or breastfeeding clients since it’s non-invasive and doesn’t involve chemicals. It’s a gentle way to keep your skin smooth, radiant, and refreshed during pregnancy.
What is a lash lift?
A lash lift is a treatment that enhances the natural curl of your eyelashes. It involves applying a gentle solution to lift and curl the lashes from the base, giving them a more voluminous, wide-eyed look. The results can last 6-8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle.
What is a lash tint?
A lash tint is a semi-permanent dye applied to your natural lashes to make them darker and more defined. This treatment is great for adding depth to lighter lashes and reducing the need for mascara, especially for those with fair or blonde lashes.
What is the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?
A lash lift curls and lifts your natural lashes, giving them a fuller and longer appearance without any added length. Lash extensions, on the other hand, involve applying synthetic lashes to your natural lashes to add length and volume. A lift enhances your natural lashes, while extensions provide a more dramatic look.
How long do lash lifts and tints last?
A lash lift typically lasts 6-8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle. A lash tint can last up to 2-4 weeks, as the color gradually fades with your natural lash shedding.
Can I get a lash lift and tint if I’m pregnant?
Lash lifts and tints are generally safe during pregnancy. However, due to hormonal changes, some clients may notice different results than usual. If you have any concerns, it's always a good idea to check with your doctor before booking the treatment.
Will the lash tint stain my skin?
A lash tint is designed to color your lashes, but it should not stain your skin when applied correctly. If there is any slight staining on the skin, it usually fades within a few hours. Our technicians take great care to avoid this, but feel free to ask for a patch test if you are concerned about any skin sensitivity.
What is a facial?
A facial is a skincare treatment that helps cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin. It includes steps such as deep cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, masks, and moisturizing. Facials are designed to improve the appearance of your skin, leaving it looking refreshed, smooth, and healthy.
How often should I get a facial?
It’s recommended to get a facial every 4-6 weeks to maintain healthy, glowing skin. This allows your skin to renew itself between treatments and helps address any specific concerns, such as dryness, acne, or fine lines.
What are the benefits of a facial?
Facials can help with a variety of skin concerns, including improving skin tone and texture, reducing the appearance of fine lines, clearing up acne, and promoting relaxation. Regular facials can also boost circulation, giving your skin a natural, healthy glow.
Do facials hurt?
Facials are generally relaxing and comfortable. However, some steps, like extractions (removal of blackheads), may cause mild discomfort. Our estheticians aim to make the process as gentle as possible while still providing effective results.
Can I get a facial if I have sensitive skin?
Yes! We offer facials specifically designed for sensitive skin. Our estheticians will choose products and techniques that are gentle and soothing to avoid irritation while still delivering effective results.
Will a facial help with acne?
Yes, facials can be an effective treatment for acne. Our acne facials focus on deep cleansing, exfoliation, and extractions to help clear clogged pores and reduce inflammation. Regular facials can help manage breakouts and improve the overall health of your skin.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive exfoliation treatment that gently buffs away the outer layer of dead skin cells to reveal a smoother, brighter, and more even-toned complexion. It’s great for improving skin texture, dullness, and mild discoloration.
Who is microdermabrasion good for?
Microdermabrasion is ideal for treating rough texture, dullness, clogged pores, fine lines, and mild hyperpigmentation. It’s not suitable for very sensitive or acne-prone skin, and it does not remove peach fuzz.
Does microdermabrasion hurt?
Not at all! Most clients describe the sensation as a mild scratching or vacuum-like feeling. It’s very tolerable and many find it relaxing.
Is microdermabrasion safe for pregnant and breastfeeding clients?
Microdermabrasion is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but because skin can be more sensitive during this time, we may adjust the treatment or recommend an alternative like dermaplaning. Always check with your healthcare provider if you have concerns.
What is waxing?
Waxing is a method of hair removal that involves applying warm wax to the skin. The wax adheres to the hair, and when removed, it pulls the hair out from the root. This leaves the skin smooth and hair-free for a longer period of time compared to shaving, which only removes hair at the surface. Because waxing removes hair from the root, it can take several weeks for the hair to grow back, and with regular waxing, you may notice finer and sparser regrowth over time.
How often should I get waxed?
You should get waxed every 4-6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle and how quickly your hair grows. Regular waxing helps maintain smooth skin and can lead to finer, sparser regrowth over time.
How long does my hair need to be for waxing?
Waxing can be done if your hair is 1/4 inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). However, for better and longer-lasting results, having your hair slightly longer is ideal. The wax can grip the hair more effectively, ensuring a smoother and longer lasting result.
How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?
Exfoliate during the week leading up to your appointment to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid shaving, trimming, or using other hair removal products, as the hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grip properly. And, moisturize regularly to hydrate the skin and soften the hair, making removal easier and more effective.
